Capturing the world of imagination and the subconscious, Symbolism was a defining movement in late 19th-century Europe.
To evoke ideas, dreams and sensations, artists envisaged mystical landscapes, femmes fatales and figures drawn from mythology and the spiritual world.
Featuring over 70 works from private and public collections by artists including Rupert Bunny, Charles Conder, Arthur Streeton and Sydney Long, this is the first major exhibition to focus on the influence of this pioneering movement in Australia.
Now showing until 29 July. Free admission.
Special events include exhibition talks, coffee lectures, drawing sessions and tours.
